On this page we are going to explain the different scoring criteria that can be given in the Asian Cup Excel 2024. The examples are totally fictitious, and only serve to illustrate how Excel works. In the comments of this page you can share your scores so that they can serve as a guide to other users. If you can specify at the time of sharing them if you do the whole tournament cheer or by rounds.
Asian Cup Excel Scoring Criteria
Group stage criteria
Within the group stage points can be obtained with the following criteria:
- GROUP STAGE- 1X2* (home, draw, away): Hit the Sign 1X2 (home, draw, away) of each matchup in the group stage. That is, if you guess the team that wins or that they tie.
- GROUP STAGE – Goal Difference (with 1X2 correct): To score on this criteria you have to get the sign right and also get the goal difference correct. This scoring criteria is new to this edition of excel and we think it can give you more excitement.
- GROUP STAGE – Exact result: Guess the exact result of each matchup in the group stage.
- GROUP STAGE – Exact position (1º): Hit the 1st classified in each group. Points are awarded for hitting each group individually.
- GROUP STAGE – Exact position (2º): Hit the 2nd classified in each group. Points are awarded for hitting each group individually.
- GROUP STAGE – Exact position (3º): Hit the 3rd classified in each group. Points are awarded for hitting each group individually.
- GROUP STAGE – Exact position (4º): Hit the 4th classified in each group. Points are awarded for hitting each group individually.
- Nation Qualified for ROUND OF 16: In addition, points can be obtained for matching the teams classified for the round of 16, in this scoring criterion the classification order doesn’t matter.
Example group stage scores
Suppose we award 1 point for guessing the sign of the match, 1 point for guessing the goal difference and another point for guessing the exact score as in the table below.

Let’s imagine that the result of the Qatar-Lebanon match is 3-0 in favor of Qatar. Let’s look at different options on how points would be earned using the score in the table above.

Scores for round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, 3-4 place and final.
The match criteria are the same as in the group stage: sign, goal difference and exact result. And they are the same for all the knockout rounds. It is important to clarify what happens in the event of a draw in the 90th minute.
If there is no draw, the result that counts is the one in the 90′ minute.
If there is a draw in the 90′ minute, the result that counts is the 120′ minute.
For example, if the fictitious match Qatar – Iran in the 90′ minute is 0-0 and in the 120′ minute it is 1-0 in favor of Qatar, the result that counts is 1-0 in the 120′ minute.
If in the 90′ minute the result is 2-2 and in the 120′ minute it remains 2-2, the 2-2 would still count, since there is no variation.
If in the 90′ minute the result is 2-2 and in the 120′ minute it is 3-3, the 3-3 in the 120′ minute would count.
2 examples of knockout round scores
We are going to see 2 examples: one with a draw and the other without a draw at 90′ with the following scoring criteria in the 2 examples.

Example A) We imagine a fictitious match in the Round of 16 at the end of the 90′ minute: Qatar 1 – Iran 0
In the table we add only the sign, the goal difference and the exact result and below the table we add the comment on the criteria of Team classified for quarterfinals.

If the participant had also put that Qatar qualified for the Quarterfinals, he would add one more point for having predicted that Qatar would be in the Quarterfinals in the criteria of “Nation Qualified for QUARTERFINALS”
Example B) Let’s imagine a fictitious match in the Round of 16: Qatar 0 – Iran 0 and Qatar wins on penalties

If, in addition, the participant had stated that Qatar qualified for the Quarterfinals, he would add one more point for having predicted that Qatar would be in the Quarterfinals.
